The Isle of Cumbrae makes a perfect stop on our sailing route. Enjoy relaxed shoreline walks and panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde, ideal for those seeking a peaceful introduction to island life on Scotland’s West Coast.

Next, discover the beauty of Loch Fyne, known for its sheltered bays and scenic surroundings. Portavadie Marina, located on the picturesque Cowal Peninsula, offers a welcoming stop for us. Step ashore for a stroll, enjoy coffee by the waterfront, or unwind at the marina’s spa. This stop combines relaxation and natural charm, making it a highlight of any West Coast Scotland sailing itinerary.

Arran is a standout destination on this island sailing route. As you approach Lochranza on the island’s northwest side, Goatfell rises dramatically in the distance. The anchorage is surrounded by gentle hills and a small castle ruin, with walking trails starting right from the shore. 

Further south, Campbeltown sits at the tip of the Kintyre Peninsula, offering a lively harbour, historic distilleries, and scenic loch views. Once celebrated as a whisky capital, the town still embraces its whisky-making heritage. Visitors can enjoy a true taste of West Coast Scotland life, with charming streets and a welcoming local atmosphere.

The journey back to Inverkip completes a satisfying circular route through one of Scotland’s most inviting sailing regions. Our return leg will take us through the stunning Kyles of Bute. Most voyages arrive in Inverkip mid-morning, leaving time to enjoy the marina surroundings before onward travel.
